Woodworking JigsThis is a subject that I love when it comes to woodworking. I sometimes take more time thinking up and building woodworking jigs than I do in building the actual project! It's time well spent though, and in the long run time well saved. Jigs are by their very nature designed to help us perform an operation more safely and accurately. It seems every time I've tried to skip building a woodworking jig because I thought it would save me time, something happens that ends up costing me more time (usually a mistake on my part). -Craig |

Hi Craig:
Last episode (Mollino03) has a fixture for my router used for a repetitive kerfing operation. It can be applied to a circular saw also. It's a good one for your viewers to put in there back pocket.

I use a number of assembly jigs with my 6-8th grade students to simplify the process of assembling various parts of their products. I find that it eases their minds and reduces the frustration factor which can be associated with the fine art of woodworking. I am amazed with the quality results and how nicely they work. I also believe the speed in which the products get finished increases when using these assembly jigs. I can send a few picture if you would like. Let me know.

Michael,
Very nice site you guys have for your woodworking program for 6-8th graders. I love to see woodworking programs that are still active in our schools!
If you have kids that are interested in woodworking, go to Michael's woodworking program site to see pictures of his kids in action building some cool projects.
