| | Woodworkers Resource Newsletter |
Dear Craig,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family well. Sorry about not getting an April newsletter out last month. Things were crazy at the Stevens household. One of the things that we've been working on is our new VIDEO PODCAST! (Didn't mean to scream at you there, it's just we're a little excited about it, read more about it below)
We are also getting geared up to hit the road again for our summer tour of homeschool curriculum fairs where we'll be offering our woodworking curriculum. If you'll be attending one of the fairs where we're displaying please come by and say, "hey". Check out the article below to see if we'll be in your town.

Our Video Podcast Is Here!
This is something that was born from the survey that many of you participated in several months ago. It was very clear that most of you thought that video was a great medium to use to learn more about woodworking. Well, we listened and here's our introductory video that tells the tale of why we're using this format and what you're going to be seeing in future episodes. At the writing of this newsletter the video is up on the website but the blog system is not functional (anybody know a good web person??) What the blog part will offer is a means to ask questions, post comments, give feedback, and be much more interactive than just a video alone. And the best thing about all this is it's completely F*REE to you. Keep checking back to the website often to see when the blog will be up and operating. Use the blog to let us know what you think or you can always simply email us at contactus@woodworkersresource.com. Our plan is to do a video around twice a month with the week in-between being used to answer your questions and posting the answers. Hope you all enjoy!

Featured Woodworker for May This month's featured woodworker is Bill Rich. Bill lives in Seymour, TN with his wife Kay and makes beautiful mountain dulcimers. As with a lot of woodworkers, Bill has a background in engineering, and has had a pretty interesting life in that field before retiring to east Tennessee. He helped start not one but two companies (both of which are still going strong). Bill's dulcimers are also featured at the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, TN. This is a living history museum of pioneer, frontier, and early artifacts of the Southern Appalachians. I really enjoyed getting to know Bill and listening to his love of making and playing this unique mountain instrument. Click here to read the rest of our interview with Bill Rich. |
TAKE UP TO 25% OFF!!
It's that time of year. Birds are nesting, flowers are blooming, kids are looking forward to summer, and homeschool curriculum fairs are popping up everywhere, and the Stevens clan is getting ready to hit the road. We will be displaying at the following curriculum fairs this summer: Middle Tenn. (Nashville) May 18-19, Knoxville, TN and Birmingham, AL both on June 29-30, and finally in Chattanooga, TN on July 20-21. If you're going to be at one of these fairs, please come by and say, "HEY"! We'd love to talk to you.
But if you can't make any of the fairs where we will be, don't worry. We've decided to offer our newsletter subscribers the same discount as we'll be offering at the homeschool fairs, just to say, "THANKS"!! Just one of the benefits to subscribing to our newsletter. We will take $5.00 off our website price of our printed book, "Woodshop 101 for Kids", which means you will pay only $24.00!! And yes, this price does include shipping. That's a savings of over 17%!
If you would like to save even more you can get our downloadable version that comes straight to your computer for only $14.96. That's an incredible 25% off the website price!!
Ok, here's how it will work. Just go to the website and order either the printed version or the downloadable version at regular price. I will be notified of your payment. I'll check to see if you're a subscriber to our newsletter and if so, I refund the difference due back to you. (The refund happens within minutes of me sending it).
These prices will only be good for subscribers to our newsletter and will expire on June 15th.

A Place to Hang Your Hat
Here's a simple projects for you and your kids to do together. This is another idea from HGTV's Matt Fox. If your kids are like mine they have serveral baseball hats they wear and most of the time there thrown in their closets.
You and your kids can easily build this hat rack in a couple of hours. Matt lays out exactly how to build it on HGTV's website.

What's Happening On The Web
Here's some websites that I thought you might enjoy looking at.
Tom Plamann Tom's site is one that I go to for inspiration. Tom is a professional woodworker who is extremely talented. Here's a wall unit that he built and more or less designed it as he went. Incredible
Woodbin This is a site that has several woodworking software programs to use in the shop.
Wood That Works David Roy is a woodworker that builds wooden sculpture that moves.

| That's it for this issue. Remember, send me those e-mails about what you want to see in future issues, nominate a fellow woodworker or yourself for the Featured Woodworker section, and send in any Tips and Techniques that you would like to share with us. Many of you said in our survey that you wanted to see more pictures of kids with their completed projects or works in progress. I can't put them in the newsletter if you don't send them. So let's see what you're working on. If you have questions about e- mailing digital pictures contact me and I'll walk you through it. The next issue will be out the second week of June. Also, if you like what you see in this newsletter and you know of someone who would be interested in having it sent to them, simply click on the "Forward Email" button that's just below the newsletter. You can even add your own comments to the person before sending it. And last but not least, click on the "Update Profile" hyperlink below and check the boxes that apply so we can put out a better newsletter that has the information that you want to see. "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18 Sincerely,
